Ordinance 2011--01 Defining Election Districts

AN ORDINANCE OF STANLEY COUNTY, SD, DEFINING ELECTION DISTRICTS.
BE IT ORDAINED BY STANLEY COUNTY, SD:
Stanley County shall be divided into five commissioner districts, designated respectively as District One, Two, Three, Four and Five. The districts shall be described with certain street or avenue designations or other landmarks that border the districts. Any reference to street or avenue below shall mean an imaginary line running down the approximate middle of each street or avenue. The commissioner districts of Stanley County are as set forth below and shown in the Commissioner District map thereof. Any discrepancies shall be resolved by reference to the attached Commissioner District map rather than the physical descriptions set forth herein. Any previous Commissioner Districts are replaced by those described herein and on the attached Commissioner District map.
Commissioner District One shall include all of that part of Stanley County lying north of a line beginning at the west limits of the County and running east along SD Highway 34 and US Highway 14 until intersecting with Cut-Across Road; thence running north along Cut-Across Road until intersecting with Mud Road; thence following Mud Road east and then south until intersecting with US Highway 14; thence following US Highway 14 Southeast until intersecting with Laramie Trail; thence following Laramie Trail north until intersecting with Lindsay Trail; thence following Lindsay Trail Southeast until intersecting with SD Highway 1806; thence following SD Highway 1806 North until intersecting with Rousseau Avenue; thence following Rousseau Avenue East until intersecting with Hamilton Court; thence running north along Hamilton Court until intersecting with the northern limit of Section 21-Township 5 N-Range 31 E; thence running east along the northern limit of Section 21-Township 5 N-Range 31 E and ending at the Missouri River/Lake Sharpe.
Commissioner District Two shall include all that part of Stanley County enclosed by a line beginning at the intersection of Sixth Avenue and Missouri Street and running Northwest along Missouri Street until intersecting with Eighth Avenue; thence running West along Eighth Avenue until intersecting with US Highway 83; thence running North along US Highway 83 until intersecting with US Highway 14; thence running West along US Highway 83 until intersecting with Skerrols Street; thence following Skerrols Street north until intersecting with Port Charlotte Avenue; thence running east along Port Charlotte Avenue until intersecting with Port-Na-Haven Street; thence following Port-Na-Haven Street northwest until intersecting with Caol-Ila Court; thence following Caol-Ila Court southwest until intersecting with Skerrols Street; thence following Skerrols Street northwest until intersecting with Islay Avenue; thence running southwest along Islay Avenue and continuing northwest along Mull Street until intersecting with Jura Avenue; thence running west along Jura Avenue until intersecting with Tiree Drive; thence running southwest along Tiree Drive until intersecting with Waldron Street; thence running south along Waldron Street until intersecting with Buffalo Road; thence running west along Buffalo Road until intersecting with the western limit of the City of Fort Pierre; thence running south along the western limit of the City of Fort Pierre until intersecting with the Bad River; thence running east along the Bad River until intersecting with the CP/DME railroad; thence running south along the CP/DME railroad until intersecting with Park Avenue; thence running northeast along Park Avenue until intersecting with US Highway 83; thence running north along US Highway 83 until intersecting with Sixth Avenue; thence running northeast along Sixth Avenue ending at the starting point.
Commissioner District Three shall include all that part of Stanley County lying west and south of a line beginning at the south limits of the County and running north and west along US Highway 83 until intersecting with Tim Street; thence running southwest along Tim Street until intersecting with Second Street; thence running north along Second Street until intersecting with Park Avenue; thence running west along Park Avenue until intersecting with CP/DME railroad; thence running north along CP/DME railroad until intersecting with the Bad River; thence running west along the Bad River until intersecting with Fort Pierre city limits; thence running north along Fort Pierre city limits until intersecting with Buffalo Road; thence running east along Buffalo Road until intersecting with Waldron Street; thence running northeast along Waldron Street until intersecting with US Highway 14; thence running northwest along US Highway 14 until intersecting with SD Highway 1806; thence running north along SD Highway 1806 until intersecting with Lindsay Trail; thence running northwest along Lindsay Trail until intersecting with Laramie Trail; thence running south along Laramie Trail until intersecting with US Highway 14; thence running northwest along US Highway 14 until intersecting with Mud Road; thence running northwest and then west along Mud Road until intersecting with Cut-Across Road; thence running south along Cut-Across Road until intersecting with US Highway 14; thence running west along US Highway 14 and SD Highway 34 and ending at the west limits of the County.
Commissioner District Four shall include all that part of Stanley County lying east and south of a line beginning at the south limits of the County and running north and west along US Highway 83 until intersecting with Tim Street; thence running southwest along Tim Street until intersecting with Second Street; thence running north along Second Street until intersecting with Park Avenue; thence running northeast along Park Avenue until intersecting with US Highway 83; thence running north along US Highway 83 until intersecting with Fourth Avenue; thence running northeast along Fourth Avenue and ending at the Missouri River/Lake Sharpe.
Commissioner District Five shall include all that part of Stanley County enclosed by a line beginning at the intersection of the northern limit of Section 21-Township 5 N-Range 31 E and the Missouri River/Lake Sharpe and running west along northern limit of Section 21-Township 5 N-Range 31 E until intersecting with Hamilton Court; thence running south along Hamilton Court until intersecting with Rousseau Avenue; thence running west along Rousseau Avenue until intersecting with SD Highway 1806; thence running south along SD Highway 1806 until intersecting with US Highway 14; thence running southeast along US Highway 14 until intersecting with Waldron Street; thence running northeast along Waldron Street until intersecting with Tiree Drive; thence running northeast along Tiree Drive until intersecting with Jura Avenue; thence running east along Jura Avenue until intersecting with Mull Street; thence running south along Mull Street and continuing northeast along Islay Avenue; thence running northeast along Islay Avenue until intersecting with Skerrols Street; thence running southeast along Skerrrols Street until intersecting with Caol-Ila Court; thence running northeast along Caol-Ila Court until intersecting with Port-Na-Haven Street; thence running southeast along Port-Na-Haven Street until intersecting with Port Charlotte Avenue; thence running west along Port Charlotte Avenue until intersecting with Skerrols Street; thence running south along Skerrols Street until intersecting with US Highway 14; thence running east along US Highway 14 until intersecting with US Highway 83; thence running south along US Highway 83 until intersecting with Eighth Avenue; thence running east along Eighth Avenue until intersecting with Missouri Street; thence running southeast along Missouri Street until intersecting with Sixth Avenue; thence running southwest along Sixth Avenue until intersecting with US Highway 83; thence running south along US Highway 83 until intersecting with Fourth Avenue; thence running northeast along Fourth Avenue until reaching the Missouri River/Lake Sharpe; thence running north along the Missouri River/Lake Sharpe until ending at the starting point.
