NOTICE OF GENERAL ELECTION

          A General Election will be held on Tuesday, November 3, 2026, in all the voting precincts in Stanley County.

          The election polls will be open from seven o’clock a.m. to seven o’clock p.m. mountain time on the day of the election.

          The polling place in each precinct of this county is as follows:

Precinct 1: Community & Youth Involved Center, 19 E Main Ave, Fort Pierre

Precinct 2: McQuistion Farmstead, 20082 SD Highway 1806, Fort Pierre

Precinct 3: Hayes Community Hall, 25426 US Highway 14/34, Hayes

          A map of the precincts may be found at www.stanleycounty.org under ‘Election and Voting Information – Commissioner Districts, Precincts and Polling Places,’ and at the Stanley County Auditor’s Office, Stanley County Courthouse, Fort Pierre, SD.

          Any voter who needs assistance, pursuant to the Americans with Disabilities Act, may contact the county auditor at 605-223-7780 before the election for information on polling place accessibility for people with disabilities.

NOTICE OF DEADLINE FOR VOTER REGISTRATION

          Voter registration for the Primary Election to be held on June 2, 2026, will close on May 18, 2026, at 5:00 p.m. Central Time. Failure to register by this date will cause forfeiture of voting rights for this election. If you are in doubt about whether you are registered, check the Voter Information Portal at www.sdsos.gov or call the county auditor at (605) 223-7780.

NOTICE OF DEADLINE FOR FILING NOMINATING PETITIONS FOR THE PRIMARY ELECTION AND FOR FILING INDEPENDENT CANDIDATE PETITIONS

          The deadline for filing nominating petitions for the primary election is March 31, 2026, at 5:00 p.m. central time. If a petition is mailed by registered mail by March 31, 2026, at 5:00 p.m. central time, it is considered filed.

          The deadline for filing nominating petitions to run as an independent candidate in the general election is April 28, 2026, at 5:00 p.m. central time. If a petition is mailed by registered mail by April 28, 2026, at 5:00 p.m. central time, it is considered filed.

For the offices of County Commissioner District 1, County Commissioner District 3, County Commissioner 5, Register of Deeds, Sheriff, Auditor and Republican Delegates to the State Convention nominating petitions must be filed in the office of the Stanley County auditor, and nominating petitions for the offices of U.S. Representative, Public Utilities Commissioner and Legislator must be filed in the Office of the Secretary of State, 500 E Capitol Ave., State Capitol Building, Pierre, SD 57501.
