NOTICE OF GENERAL ELECTION
A General Election will be held on Tuesday, November 5, 2024, in all the voting precincts in Stanley County.
The election polls will be open from seven o’clock a.m. to seven o’clock p.m. mountain time on the day of the election.
The polling place in each precinct of this county is as follows:
Precinct 1: Community & Youth Involved Center, 19 E Main Ave, Fort Pierre
Precinct 2: McQuistion Farmstead, 20082 SD Highway 1806, Fort Pierre
Precinct 3: Hayes Community Hall, 25426 US Highway 14/34, Hayes
A map of the precincts may be found at www.stanleycounty.org under ‘Election and Voting Information – Commissioner Districts, Precincts and Polling Places,’ and at the Stanley County Auditor’s Office, Stanley County Courthouse, Fort Pierre, SD.
Any voter who needs assistance, pursuant to the Americans with Disabilities Act, may contact the county auditor at 605-223-7780 before the election for information on polling place accessibility for people with disabilities.

NOTICE OF TESTING AUTOMATIC TABULATING EQUIPMENT
Notice is hereby given that the automatic tabulating equipment will be tested to ascertain that it will correctly count the votes for all offices and measures that are to be cast at the General election held on the 5th day of November 2024.
The test will be conducted on the 28th day of October 2024, at 3:00 o'clock p.m. at the following location: Stanley County Courthouse, Auditor’s Office.

Voter registration for the General Election to be held on November 5, 2024, will close on October 21, 2024, at 5:00 p.m. Central Time. Failure to register by this date will cause forfeiture of voting rights for this election. If you are in doubt about whether you are registered, check the Voter Information Portal at www.sdsos.gov or call the county auditor at (605) 223-7780.

NOTICE OF DEADLINE FOR FILING NOMINATING PETITIONS FOR THE PRIMARY ELECTION AND FOR FILING INDEPENDENT CANDIDATE PETITIONS
The deadline for filing nominating petitions for the primary election is March 26, 2024, at 5:00 p.m. central time. If a petition is mailed by registered mail by March 26, 2024, at 5:00 p.m. central time, it is considered filed.
The deadline for filing nominating petitions to run as an independent candidate in the general election is April 30, 2024, at 5:00 p.m. central time. If a petition is mailed by registered mail by April 30, 2024, at 5:00 p.m. central time, it is considered filed.
For the offices of County Commissioner District 2, County Commissioner District 4, States Attorney, Coroner, Treasurer and Republican Delegates to the State Convention nominating petitions must be filed in the office of the Stanley County auditor, and nominating petitions for the offices of U.S. Representative, Public Utilities Commissioner and Legislator must be filed in the Office of the Secretary of State, 500 E Capitol Ave., State Capitol Building, Pierre, SD 57501.
The deadline for filing nominating petitions to run as an independent candidate for president in the general election is August 6, 2024, at 5:00 p.m. central time. If a petition is mailed by registered mail by August 6, 2024, at 5:00 p.m. central time, it is considered filed.
Nominating petitions for the offices of County Commissioner District 2, County Commissioner District 4, States Attorney, Coroner, Treasurer and Republican Delegates to the State Convention must be filed in the office of the county auditor during regular business hours. Nominating petitions for the offices of U.S. Representative, and Legislator must be filed in the Office of the Secretary of State, State Capitol Building, 500 E Capitol Ave., Pierre, SD 57501, between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. central time.
