May 31, 2011

The special meeting of the Stanley County Commissioners was called to order at 11:00 a.m. by Chairman Jacobson with Commissioners Booth, Iversen and Scott present.  Director of Equalization Don Wiedemer, Highway Superintendent Leo Sullivan, States Attorney Tom Maher and Auditor Kris Kroll were also present.

AGENDA:  Motion by Booth seconded by Iversen to approve the agenda.  All voted aye.  Motion carried.

2011 FLOODING:  Rob Fines, Joe Meligan, Tina Titze, Norm Weaver with the Hughes Co. Comm. , Circuit Court Administrator Heather Covey  and Ruth Brown with the Capital Journal were present.  Fines reported that the flow is at 85,000 CFS and it is anticipated that the max flow of 150,000 CFS will be on June 7. Shelters and long term housing is limited so preparations need to be made.  Titze reported that Emergency Management is monitoring the availability of motel/hotel rooms.  Fines reported that the governor has not declared a mandatory evacuation at this point.  Wiedemer asked about elevations on Bad River. Fines stated that after the year 2000, houses were required to be at a higher elevation.  Maher asked about the sewer system and sewer plugs.  Fines reported that appliance stores are getting the plugs in as soon as possible. Jacobson asked about Hwy 83 plans. Fines stated that he hasn’t heard an update on that project but believes that the DOT will do all that is possible to keep the highway open.  Booth reported that the AMR committee will continue to meet to resolve the issues with the ambulance.
