STANLEY COUNTY COMMISSION
MINUTES
May 17, 2016
The special meeting of the Stanley County Commission was called to order at 5:03 P.M.(CDT) by Chairman Dana Iversen with Commissioners Dennis Booth, Craig Heller and Sonny Harrowa present. Commissioner Scott Deal was absent. Also present was Highway Superintendent Lee Smith, Chad Hicks, Eugene Collett, Kim Hallock, LeRoy Klinger, Royce Loesch, Reed Stoeser, Jeannine Loesch, Dennis Wackel, Larry Nielson, Larry Manke, Heidi O’Daniel, Candi Boes and Auditor Philena Edwards. The meeting commenced with the recitation of the Pledge of Allegiance.
AGENDA: Motion by Craig Heller, second by Dennis Booth, to amend the Agenda by adding Fairgrounds. All voted Aye. Motion Carried.
Motion by Craig Heller, second by Dennis Booth, to approve amended Agenda. All voted Aye. Motion Carried.
Highway Department – Gravel Crushing Bid: Motion by Dennis Booth, second by Sonny Harrowa, to accept gravel crushing bid as presented by Morris, Inc. for $3.85 per ton for Buffalo Pit and $4.35 per ton for Gertonson Pit. All voted Aye. Motion Carried.
Fuel Tanks – Lee presented the Commissioners with a quote for tank cleaning service. Motion by Sonny Harrowa, second by Craig Heller to accept Tank Cleaning Bid from Dakota Environmental. All voted Aye. Motion Carried.
Fairgrounds: Received a quote for general liability coverage for other clubs and groups to use the facilities for roping and riding. They will still be required to provide a certificate of insurance to use premises, sign a waiver and have the groups/clubs find 5 trustworthy volunteers to take turns supervising the roping and riding. The Commissioners would like more information on the insurance for such activities.
Discussion: Stanley Post 20 American Legion would like to obtain the liquor license that the Chamber is not renewing. Auditor handed them the paperwork from the City regarding the process. The Post would also like to be first choice to operate the beer garden for the events at the fairgrounds that warrant this type of concession. They use these functions as fund raisers for the sport complex/ball fields. The Post will pay the County 3% of their net profit.
