STANLEY COUNTY COMMISSION

MINUTES

July 26, 2016

 

The special meeting of the Stanley County Commission was called to order at 5:00 P.M.(CDT) by Chairman Dana Iversen with Commissioners Dennis Booth, Scott Deal, Craig Heller and Sonny Harrowa present. Also present was Highway Superintendent Lee Smith, Department of Legislative Audits Dave Schlosser, Capitol Journal Lee Zion and Auditor Philena Edwards. The meeting commenced with the recitation of the Pledge of Allegiance.

 

Agenda: Motion by Sonny Harrowa, second by Craig Heller, to approve the Agenda. All voted Aye. Motion Carried.

 

Budget: Motion by Dennis Booth, second by Sonny Harrowa, to publish and notice for hearing the provisional budget for 2017. All voted Aye. Motion Carried.

 

Gravel: Motion by Craig Heller, second by Dennis Booth, to purchase crushed gravel through Bob Bak, Bak Construction, for $4.32 per ton, 80¢ per ton royalties, no more than 30,000 ton. All voted Aye. Motion Carried.

 

Courthouse Parking Lot: The highway department will tear out the west parking lot, bring in engineered fill for drainage out the south side, bid out for the concrete work. Would like to have this complete before school starts.

 

Discussion: Indian Horse Racing would like to put on a race August 2017. They will be in the Fort Pierre area in the next couple weeks to look over the fairgrounds. It will be 4 days, 24 to 30 teams, 300 horses. If they feel the facility will work, they will present the Commissioners with a proposal.

 

Adjournment: Motion by Craig Heller, second by Scott Deal, to adjourn at 7:15 P.M. All voted Aye. Motion Carried.
