STANLEY COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS
SPECIAL MEETING
JANUARY 25, 2012
The special meeting of the Stanley County Board of Commissioners was called to order by Chairman Booth at 6:30 p.m. (CST). Chairman Booth, Commissioners Davenport, Iversen, Jacobson and Scott were present. Don Wiedemer, Director of Equalization, Leo Sullivan, Highway Superintendent, Karen Sharp, Auditor, Rob Fines and Shannon
were also present.
AGENDA: Motion by Iversen, second by Jacobson, to approve the agenda. All voted Aye. Motion carried.
FAIRGROUNDS: Reviewed Summary of Costs Incurred for Repairing Flood Damage at the Stanley County Fairgrounds as proposed by the City Fort Pierre. Motion by Jacobson, second by Scott, to table until the State’s Attorney has reviewed. All voted Aye. Motion carried.
FLOOD REIMBURSEMENT: Reviewed Invoicing from Stanley County for Flood Related Work as submitted by City of Fort Pierre. City is presently offering to pay 100% of the labor and equipment and 85% of the sand/dirt and gravel for a total of $120,787.14. If the City receives future reimbursement for Seg. 2 and Seg. 9, it will turn over what it receives to Stanley County. Motion by Scott, second by Iversen, to presently accept the payment of $120,787.14 and the offer of future reimbursement if received by the City of Fort Pierre for Seg. 2 and Seg. 9. All voted Aye. Motion carried.
AMBULANCE: Reviewed Request for Proposals for Ambulance Service Coverage for Hughes and Stanley Counties Including the Communities of Pierre/Fort Pierre. Motion by Jacobson, second by Davenport, to approve the Request for Proposals. All voted Aye. Motion carried. Motion by Jacobson, second by Iversen, to accept the raising of prices 2.44% for inflation increase. All voted Aye. Motion carried.
EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT: Rob Fines reported that the Homeland Security monies had been approved and that he would be submitting the figures to the Auditor. Assessment will now be needed. The radio station is complete and working great.
HEALTH INSURANCE: Stanley County will pay Stroup’s health insurance through the month of February, 2012. The State’s Attorney will be asked to research termination of health insurance for the possible consideration of a personnel policy regarding the same.
COLD STORAGE CONTAINERS: Jacobson reported that an 8’ x 40’ x 9’ high container would cost approximately $4,500.00 and a 20’ container would be approximately $3,850.00. The containers are rodent and waterproof.
FAIRGROUNDS MANAGER: Discussion was held regarding a fairgrounds manager or a part-time employee for the fairgrounds.
TREASURER APPLICATIONS: Possibility of combining county offices was discussed. Applications were reviewed. Motion by Jacobson, second by Davenport, to appoint a Treasurer at this time and to interview three applicants. All voted Aye. Motion carried. Auditor will schedule interviews for February 1, 2012.
ADJOURN: Motion by Iversen, second by Scott, to adjourn at 9:37 p.m. All voted Aye. Motion carried.
