STANLEY COUNTY COMMISSION

MINUTES

August 16, 2017

 

The special meeting of the Stanley County Commission was called to order at 5:06 P.M.(CDT) by Chairman Dana Iversen with Commissioners Dennis Booth, Scot Deal, Craig Heller and Sonny Harrowa present. Also present was Casey Cowan, Trey Crigger, Capital Journal Dave Askins, KCCR Kevin Larson, KGFX Doreen Foster and Auditor Philena Edwards. The meeting commenced with the recitation of the Pledge of Allegiance.

 

Agenda: Motion by Dennis Booth, second by Scott Deal, to approve the Agenda. All voted Aye. Motion Carried.

 

Executive Session – Personnel – SDCL 1-25-2(1): Motion by Sonny Harrowa, second by Craig Heller, to go into Executive Session-Personnel-SDCL1-25-2(1) at 5:07 P.M. All voted Aye. Motion Carried.

 

Motion by Sonny Harrowa, second by Craig Heller, to reconvene at 5:16 P.M. All voted Aye. Motion Carried.

 

Resignation: Motion by Craig Heller, second by Dennis Booth, to accept Resignation of District 2 Commissioner Scott Deal, effective September 1, 2017. All voted Aye. Motion Carried.

 

New Hire – Deputy Auditor: Motion by Sonny Harrowa, second by Craig Heller, to approve new hire of Sarah Furnival as Deputy Auditor, at $14.50 per hour, with 50¢ wage increase at 6 months, 12 months and 18 months, with supervisor approval, plus any cost of living increase approved by Commissioners for all county employees. Start date of August 21, 2017. All voted Aye. Motion Carried.

 

New Hire – Fairgrounds Manager/Maintenance: Motion by Craig Heller, second by Dennis Booth, to approve new hire of Scott Deal as Fairgrounds Manager/Maintenance, starting salary of $48,000.00, 10% commission of advertising, plus any cost of living increase approved by Commissioners for all county employees. Start date of September 5, 2017. Booth voted Aye. Heller voted Aye. Harrowa voted Aye. Iversen voted Aye. Deal did not vote. Motion Carried.

 

Discussion: The City would like to utilize parts of the fairgrounds during the bicentennial for visitor and vendor parking. The County will accommodate for parking, leaving plenty of room for stock contractors and general public attending the Stirling Family Ranch Rodeo.

 

The County WIC secretary, Bonnie Nickels, will be traveling with County Health Nurse Carmella Bourk to the Fort Thompson clinic on Thursday August 17, 2017, to work in the clinic for the day.
