STANLEY COUNTY COMMISSION MEETING
MINUTES
April 29, 2025
The special meeting of the Stanley County Board of Equalization was called to order at 5:00 P.M. (CT) by Chairman Craig Heller, with Commissioners Mike Kenzy and Gary Grittner present. Commissioners Dana Iversen and Sonny Harrowa was absent. Also present were Director of Equalization Matthew Riter, Glenn Dozark, Barbara Poches, and Auditor Philena Burtch. The meeting commenced with the recitation of the Pledge of Allegiance.
AGENDA: Motion by Mike Kenzy, second by Gary Grittner, to approve the Agenda. All voted Aye. Motion Carried.
Reconvene Board of Equalization on April 29, 2025 at 5:02 P.M.
Elderly/Disabled Assessment Freeze: Motion by Gary Grittner, second by Mike Kenzy, to approve the additional 1 resident, who qualify for the Elderly/Disabled Assessment Freeze Exemption for 2025 taxes due 2026, for a total of 15 qualifying residents. All voted Aye. Motion Carried.
Disabled Veterans Property Tax Exemption: Motion by Gary Grittner, second by Mike Kenzy, to approve the additional 1 resident who qualify for the Disabled Veterans Property Tax Exemption for 2025 taxes due 2026, for a total of 20 qualifying residents. All voted Aye. Motion Carried.
These assessments are for 2025 taxes payable in 2026.
Record #6658 – Ownership Status Correction: Motion by Gary Grittner, second by Mike Kenzy, to approve to update Record #6658 from Commercial Land to Residential Building N/A Other, for 2025 Taxes Due and Pay in 2026. All voted Aye. Motion Carried.
Discussion: Glenn Dozark and Barbara Poches asked about the Elderly/Disabled Assessment Freeze Program. Matthew Riter provided each of them an application and brochure that explains the process and eligibility.
Adjournment: Motion by Gary Grittner, second by Mike Kenzy, to adjourn at 5:12 P.M. All voted Aye. Motion Carried.
